I don't think that's quite it. More like... don't want to hurt other people while you do it. If you have superhuman powers, you get them back by "feeding" whatever entity you're tied to. To do that, you need to... not want to do it, necessarily. But you need to want to hurt the people you're doing - whatever you're doing the thing, to. And they need to be scared or hurt or angry, I think.
